What's the best pistol gun safe? There are a number of them out there, so deciding on the right one can be challenging. What factors should you think about before buying? Here are 3 of the most critical:

#1) Price Obviously safes can be pricey. Some of the better ones will run you $1500, whereas the cheapest will be just $100.

Don't cut corners.

Sure you want to save money. But if you get a super cheap one, you will sacrifice security. Make sure to read reviews of any specific model you are about to buy.

#2) Locking system
This is one of the factors that affect the price the most. The traditional lock and key system is the cheapest, but it's also the least effective.

Why?

Because if somebody breaks in, you have to take the time to get the key and unlock the pistol safe. In other words, you might not be able to get to the gun in time. A few seconds can makes all the difference.

So what's the solution?

You might want to invest in either a keypad or biometric (fingerprint) safe. The former requires you to enter a code before opening it. This is better than the lock and key system but slightly less effective than the biometric.

For the fingerprint models, you just wave your finger in front of the sensor. There's no way anyone can match your handprint, so nobody is going to break into this one.

And it's also the quickest method of accessing your pistol. However, as you might expect it's also the most expensive.

#3) Size
Some safes can hold just 1 or 2 pistols, whereas others can stash 15-20. You might want to buy a safe that holds slightly more than your current collection. If you ever decide to purchase more pistols, you will be ready.

The bottom line is, finding the right pistol gun safe will take some time and effort. Just make sure to think about the above factors before buying. Also read customer reviews of any safe you are considering. This is the best way to find the right model out there.
